What you do matters
The gift of a meal is more than just filling an empty stomach. School meals meet basic nutritional needs while keeping children focused in the classroom.
We follow God’s call to rescue, love and care for orphans and impoverished children.
At Danita’s Children, we provide a safe haven for abandoned and vulnerable children, while encouraging families to stay together through our education and malnutrition programs. We believe that when we do, we are following Christ’s commandment and are acting as His hands and feet. It is not just the responsibility of those who are called to full-time ministry to be concerned, but it is the responsibility of all believers and Christ-followers.
We currently have over 300 students
We provide each student in our school with a safe learning environment, excellent teachers, nutritious food, extra-curricular activities, and opportunities for higher education and vocational studies.
Child survival rates are being increased through quality medical care.
Sponsored children receive quality healthcare. Doctors, nurses, dentists, and other trained medical professionals perform primary medical and dental care.
Sunday School teaches children what it means to have a relationship with Christ.
Our goal is to see transformation in Haiti by raising up the next generation of leaders in a Christ-centered environment. Together we are changing Haiti — one child at a time.
You can save a child’s life through child sponsorship. With your donation of $35 each month, you will feed, clothe, and provide life-saving medical care and shelter to a child in need.
Most of all, you will be sharing love and hope with your sponsored child. You will change your child’s life forever. Read some of the stories in our blog to see the impact you can have through child sponsorship.
2 Ways You Can Help Support A Child Today
Make A One-Time Gift
A
one-time gift will help cover the cost of meeting a child's basic needs. Your support ensures a child in our program receives essentials like nutritious food and educational opportunities.
Sponsor A Child
With your commitment of $35 monthly sponsorship gift, you provide a child with nutritious food, clean water, life-saving medical care such as surgeries, pediatric medical and dental care, house parents, special needs care, education, and above all, discipleship that transforms the child’s mind and heart through the love of Jesus Christ.
Got a question? We’re here to help.
Children that live in our Orphan Care Homes and Special Needs Home, or who attend our school are apart of the sponsorship program.
Sponsors may request the gender and/or age range of a child, and then children most in need of a sponsor are given first priority when being paired with a sponsor.
Sponsorship costs $35/month/child
It takes several sponsors to fully fund a child’s care. Sponsorship donations are pooled together to provide for all the children in our program. While you won’t be the only sponsor, you will receive personalized letters and cards from the child you sponsor.
Sponsorship provides food, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, and discipleship to children in our program. Most of all, you will be sharing love and hope with your sponsored child. When you sponsor a child, you have the opportunity to invest in the life of a future leader of Haiti.
As long as a child is in our programs, you can be their sponsor! Many children will graduate from our primary school, but some will go on to higher education through college or vocational training. As the child approaches graduation, you will be notified of the plans for the future and given the opportunity to give towards their higher education, if you choose.
If you need to cancel your sponsorship at any time, please contact our stateside office at usoffice@danitaschildren.org or call 615-721-8433.
In order to safeguard the privacy and security of our children, communication between a sponsor and child is only be allowed through letter writing. Email, Facebook messaging, and other forms of electronic message will not be permitted, as they do not enable house parents, who are responsible for the security and wellbeing of the children, to easily view and monitor such correspondence. Some sponsors like to send a little memento with their letter. You can include stickers, bookmarks, and photos – pictures are treasured possessions. Your child wants to see what you look like, too! Please send letters to PO Box 23270 Nashville, TN 37202.
We can no longer accept physical gifts for individual children. There are a number of reasons, including difficulties of coordinating shipping and receiving, the hefty customs fees we are charged, and the fact that not all children get gifts from sponsors, which creates inequity situations. Therefore for individual gifts for children for birthdays, graduation, and Christmas, we can accept only monetary gifts. As for gift amounts, we ask that birthday and Christmas gifts not exceed $25 each, and graduation gifts not exceed $100. With these monies, children will be given the opportunity to visit the local village to shop for a gift, or they can save their money for their future education! Monetary gifts can be sent by check to PO Box 280750 Nashville, TN 37228 or online at: www.danitaschildren.org/i-need-a-sponsor
Letters are sent to Haiti on a monthly basis. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your child to receive their letter.
Yes! When you become a sponsor you will receive a photo and some general information on your child. Each year you will receive a new school photo, annual updates, program updates, and special communications!
