MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

DANITA ESTRELLA-WATTS

President

Danita Estrella Watts is founder and CEO of Danita’s Children Hope for Haiti Children’s Center in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. The feeding of one child in 1999 led to Danita founding an organization that now provides 16,000 meals each month, a pre-K to 12 School that educates almost 400 children, and a children’s Medical Center that provides excellent pediatric care to the northeast region of Haiti.

In addition, her mission is to provide a safe and loving home to almost 70 children, including special needs children who have been abandoned. Danita is a visionary leader, with a gift both to see the need and to envision the solutions to meet that need. As such, under Danita’s leadership, the programs and services of Danita’s Children are continually expanding and breaking ground into new areas, all with the mission to rescue, love and care for orphaned and impoverished children in Haiti.

Through nearly 25 years of devoted and outstanding service to the region of Northern Haiti, Danita has become a highly-respected and well-loved leader in the community of Ouanaminthe, and her ministry is making a lasting impact which will affect the lives of Haitians for generations to come.

She truly exemplifies the power of the Danita’s Children motto:  Changing Haiti, one child at a time.

KARRIS HUDSON

In her early twenties, Karris served at Metro World Child in New York City, helping coordinate its Sidewalk Sunday School program for inner-city youth in Brooklyn. After a few years there, in 2002 she followed the call of God to Ouanaminthe, Haiti.

Karris has been with Danita’s Children for 21 years now, where she has the greatest privilege of helping raise the children God has entrusted to their care. In the early years with Danita’s Children, Karris supported Danita and her vision by helping establish, build and spearhead what is seen today as Hope for Haiti Children’s Center. From the build-out of each home, filling administrative roles, raising children, to directing field staff and project management, Karris has seen God’s faithfulness bring this ministry to what is known today.

During her time in Haiti, Karris also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. She enjoys writing, speaking, and investing into the lives of the younger generation – championing them to follow God’s unique call on their lives.
