Medical Center Emergency Cases

Danitas Children • Jun 17, 2020

Until about two weeks ago, the number of coronavirus cases in Haiti was very low. But recently that number has grown massively, and it shows no sign of slowing.

Our community is at increased risk in this crisis. The Dominican Republic has had much higher infection rates than Haiti and many Haitians are returning home. As these workers come home, they pass through our border town.

Our team has taken precautionary measures to protect the children in our care. Our hospital is as equipped as we can make it to handle the needs of those around us and we have implemented extra cleaning standards. And we are praying every day to the One who holds all of us in His hands. Will you join us in prayer?

We are so grateful to have you as part of our support system, especially during a crisis. Your gifts always change lives in our community, and if you feel called to help us financially, we promise that now more than ever your gift will be put to good use and help us keep our children safe and healthy.

Your support, through gifts and prayers, is vital in this uncertain time. Thank you for being part of our community and watching out for the children we serve.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Danita's Children Medical Center is saving lives! Will you partner with us? The expansion of our NICU opened earlier this year and is already making an impact in the community we serve in Haiti. Families are able to access the specialized care their critically ill infants need to survive. I wanted to share the story of baby Fonrose, one of the very first patients admitted into our NICU.

On Friday, June 3, the team was able to operate on three children, all who needed hernia repair. One patient had two hernias and the team was able to do surgery on both at the same time.

Jules’ mother came to our hospital back in October 2021 when she noticed that her son may have a hernia. She was able to have a consultation with our doctor and found out that he did need to have surgery to repair the hernia.
