The border to the Dominican Republic is closed and we are not able to get oxygen for our critical patients.
Our lead Pediatrician Dr. Jeanty has been working diligently to take care of this emergency. We found another hospital willing to help. Thanks to our medical team and a partnering hospital, Danita’s Children Medical Center was able to get full oxygen tanks today. The nurses celebrate as this means they are able to continue to save more lives during this pandemic. Thank you for all who prayed. God sure is faithful and provides a way.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Danita's Children Medical Center is saving lives! Will you partner with us? The expansion of our NICU opened earlier this year and is already making an impact in the community we serve in Haiti. Families are able to access the specialized care their critically ill infants need to survive. I wanted to share the story of baby Fonrose, one of the very first patients admitted into our NICU.
On Friday, June 3, the team was able to operate on three children, all who needed hernia repair. One patient had two hernias and the team was able to do surgery on both at the same time.
Jules’ mother came to our hospital back in October 2021 when she noticed that her son may have a hernia. She was able to have a consultation with our doctor and found out that he did need to have surgery to repair the hernia.
