Renovation

Our church is the lighthouse to the lost and hurting....

What we see is not always what the Lord sees, and His priorities are not always our priorities. It’s a lesson I’ve learned time and time again throughout this ministry.

In 2001, we excitedly bought land to expand our work. At the time, our children attended school under a thatched roof in an open-air building, so constructing a proper school building seemed like the greatest need. But as I walked our new property, I prayed, “Lord, what do you see?”

After spending time with Him, I knew we needed to build the church first. We began construction in 2002, and we completed the Hope for Haiti Worship Center (Temple De Espoir Haiti) in 2004. Since then, the church has proudly served the needs of families and children throughout Haiti.

But now, after years of wear and tear along with the effects of natural disasters, our church desperately needs renovations. Will you prayerfully consider helping us remodel our building to ensure it can remain a welcoming, safe environment for the people of Haiti?

While our church stands as a place of worship and encouragement on Sundays, it has served multiple other purposes throughout the years. Before finishing our school, we used the church as a classroom for our students and as the central base of our feeding program during the week.

For displaced families after the floods of Gonaïves in 2004, and again, after the devastating earthquake of 2010, it became a home and hospital. We’ve hosted graduations, weddings and school chapel services. Most of all, our church acts as a lighthouse to the lost and hurting — a place the community knows will always welcome them with open doors.

This church has served our community well, but recent events have made the remodel more urgent. Tremors struck our town several months ago, cracking and lifting the tile floor throughout the church. The doors need replaced, the roof needs fixed, and we need new chairs to accommodate the 400+ students and staff. In addition, we need new fans, lighting, windows, paint and to replace our sound system and keyboard.

The total cost of the remodel project is $62,000. Will you consider giving to help us complete these renovations?

Our church has been a place of healing and restoration for more than 20 years, and we pray it will continue to be so for years to come. Thank you in advance for giving toward this need and blessing our congregation with a house of worship.

We have watched in awe of God’s provision to meet the needs of His children in Haiti since opening our doors, and we know He will provide now, too. Through your generosity and prayers, we will continue to be a light in darkness for generations to come.
